THE G.A.C. (GLOBAL ASSESSMENT CERTIFICATE)

SIU is very pleased to have been accorded the status of a G.A.C. pathway university in October 2014.

The G.A.C. is an international university preparation and foundation studies programme that equips students from all over the world with academic, linguistic and study skills required for higher education of a global standard. The programme is owned and managed by ACT in the U.S. Further details about ACT may be viewed at ACT's website.

The G.A.C. is recognised for admissions and/or credit transfer purposes by more than 90 universities around the globe. These requirements in relation to SIU are as follows:

* Minimum overall GAC percentage: 55.
* Minimum English Language level required: IELTS 5.5 / TOEFL 62-65 or G.A.C. Level 3 English modules - 60%.
* Minimum ACT score (if required): (non-applicable).

G.A.C. graduates are eligible to apply for SIU scholarships entailing reductions from full published tuition fees: each application and scholarship award will be considered on its individual merits. SIU will provide credit exemptions / advanced standing to G.A.C. graduates into the following SIU undergraduate programme: BACHELOR OF ARTS IN ENGLISH COMMUNICATION (BAEC), over which further information may be viewed at the School of Liberal Arts page.


0.33% of total BAEC degree credits is awarded to G.A.C. graduates who attain the SIU-designated minmum grade in the following G.A.C. modules: 

G.A.C. 001
G.A.C. 002
G.A.C. 003
G.A.C. 006
G.A.C. 007
G.A.C. 008
G.A.C. 014
G.A.C. 015


In order to be considered for admission or credits, a G.A.C. graduate must have completed all 3 levels of the G.A.C. programme.
